Challenging offerings of study and research at Belgian universities.

The Bollandists: CENTRE OF HAGIOGRAPHIC STUDIES

The Société des Bollandistes is the world reference centre for hagiographic studies.  The exceptional resources of its library, its publications (Acta Sanctorum, Analecta Bollandiana, Subsidia Hagiographica, Tabularium Hagiographicum), its specialized experts team make it the best place for developing a research in the field of hagiography.  This is a unique opportunity for outstanding doctoral candidates or postdoctoral researchers in Medieval History or Medieval Latin Philology or Byzantine Studies with a specific interest in hagiography. The fellow will be closely associated with the Bollandists’ activities, thus being further trained in the field of critical hagiography. Some knowledge of French is required.

The Rubenianum

The Rubenianum promotes and facilitates the study of the work of Peter Paul Rubens in particular and more broadly that of his Antwerp predecessors, contemporaries and followers.
Research projects should relate to these core strengths of the institute and can focus on 16th-and 17th–century paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and decorative arts and their relation to culture and society. Students whose dissertations will particularly benefit from collection, library and archival holdings in Antwerp and Belgium are strongly encouraged to apply.
